In today's post, I am going to share how to air fry sweet potato wedges.
I grew up in a country where sweet potatoes are one of the major cash crops so I have grown up loving them. Sweet potatoes were like bread for most families during breakfast.
In this case, you will be cooking them in a healthier way as the air fryer allows us to cook using less oil if we want to.
Your health is more important to us so we endeavor to provide recipes that use less oil.
To prepare this we need the following ingredients:
Ingredients
2 sweet potatoes. These should be cut lengthwise into wedges
4 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon chili flakes
salt and pepper, to taste
Sea salt, to taste
Instructions
The first thing is to preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
Put the potato wedges into a pan or pot of salted water.
Boil the contents. Once the boiling point is reached, you need to drain the salted water.
Then put the potato wedges into a bowl.
Brush the potato wedges with some oil or use a spoon to spread it over the wedges. If you use a spoon then you have to mix them to ensure that the oil has covered the wedges evenly.
Then add the chili flakes, salt, and pepper and stir the contents.
Place the potatoes into the air fryer basket and cook for approximately 25 minutes. Check after 10 minutes and shake the contents to make sure that they are cooked evenly.
Cook until the potatoes are tender and golden brown.
If you are interested in air frying potato wedges then this recipe is for you. I have always had a soft spot of potato wedges, especially on special occasions.
I guess it is because I consider it as probably a much healthier way of preparing for potatoes when compared to dipping them in oil. French fries have probably given a bad name to Irish potatoes.
To prepare this you need the following ingredients.
Ingredients
2 medium white potatoes. These should be cut into small wedges.
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 crushed garlic cloves.
A fresh rosemary sprig
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Apply a thin coat of oil on the inside of the air fryer cooking basket and preheat the air fryer to 356°F (180°C).
Put the cut potato wedges into a pan of salted water and boil.
Once the boiling point is reached you need to drain the salted water.
Then put the wedges into a bowl and add the remaining ingredients and mix them contents in the bowl.
You then spray the potato wedges with oil lightly depending on your needs.
Place them in the cooking basket and cook for approximately 18-25. Checking them until they are golden brown and crispy. This all depends on how large the wedges are.
During the cooking process shake the cooking basket at least halfway to ensure even cooking.
Enjoy.

I like fish very much and when I bought my Salter Airfryer the first thing I ever did was to air fry tilapia fish I bought from one of our local markets. I did not know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by what came out of the air fryer.
The fish was well cooked and it tasted even better than my oven cooked fish. It was also well cooked on all sides.
The air fryer also made it easy for me to turn over the fish during the cooking process due to the non-coating nature of the cooking basket.
I can, therefore, encourage anyone to try air frying tilapia or any fish and you won't regret it.
Below is an air fryer tilapia recipe that you can use to create your own yummy tilapia dish.
Ingredients needed
3 or 4 tilapia fillets
fish seasoning or any seasoning of your choice
vegetable oil.
salt
Instructions:
First, you need to preheat the air fryer to about 400°F.
Brush the tilapia fillets on all sides with the vegetable oil or olive oil if you like.
Sprinkle the fillets with the fish seasoning of your choice.
Sprinkle some salt on all sides of the fish fillets.
Place the fish in the non-stick cooking basket
Cook for approximately 10 minutes.
Halfway through the cooking turn the fish.
After 10 minutes check to see if it is well cooked. If not cook again for a few minutes until you are satisfied that it is well fried.
Serve and enjoy your yummy fish fillets.
How to Air Fry Whole Tilapia
While I enjoy eating fried fish fillets, I must confess that I prefer buying and frying it whole with all the bones, etc.
Maybe it is because I grew up in a country where it was rare to find fillets. Therefore when I go to a market I am more likely to buy whole fish than fillets.
To cook this I use more or less the same ingredients mentioned above except that in my case it is a whole fish. I however rarely air fry it whole as I prefer to split the fish into two parts.
The instructions for this are as follows:
Preheat the air fryer to about 400°F as above.
Airbrush the fish with olive oil and also add some fish seasoning and salt.
Then place the fish in the cooking basket.
The difference is in the time it takes to cook as in my case I usually cook for about 45 minutes.
Turn the fish halfway.
Check to see if it is well cooked.
Enjoy!
I should point out that I have never been disappointed when I air fry tilapia fish. I actually prefer to air fry than to cook my fish in my oven. The air fryer makes sure that the fish is well cooked on all sides.

For those who enjoy having some crispy fried chicken and have an airfryer, this post will show you how you can prepare this.
As I have already said before air fryers will help you to prepare healthier meals as they use less oil.
If for some reason you you are not aware of the benefits of using an air fryer, I would urge you to visit my post entitled, Is an air fryer worth buying? This post will give you the advantages and disadvantages of buying an air fryer.
I personally have never regretted buying an air fryer. It has helped me to significantly cut the amount of cooking oil I was using.
I have also seen no big difference in the taste of the food. I especially like the fact that I am now eating healthier food than before. And that matters more to me and my family more.
Ingredients
To prepare our yummy crispy fried chicken we need the following ingredients:
2 chicken pieces
250 g cornflakes
32 g all purpose flour
80 ml buttermilk
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp paprika
Three quarters tsp ground sage
One quarter tbsp cayenne pepper
Vegetable oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
How To Prepare
The first step is to preheat the hot air fryer to 200°C before you put in the ingredients.
Secondly you need to rinse the chicken in cold water and then dry it with whatever you use in your kitchen. In most kitchen they would pat it with a kitchen paper towel.
Then you put the dried chicken in a plate or something similar.
You can then season the flour with salt and the cayenne pepper.
After the seasoning above then you need to dip the chicken into the seasoned flour. In doing so for good results you need to make sure that that it is fully coated.
You can then tap against the bowl or plate to shake off any excess flour and set aside. Afterwards you can discard the unused flour.
This time you need to place the cornflakes into a big, resealable bag, making sure that there is no air in the bag before sealing, then run a rolling pin over the bag to crush.
After the crushing of the cornflakes pour the crushed cornflakes into a wide bowl or onto a plate.
Next you have to mix the buttermilk, mustard, cayenne pepper, paprika and sage in a bowl.
After the mixture is done dip the chicken pieces into the buttermilk mixture and then roll in the crushed cornflakes.
Arrange the chicken pieces in the air fryer's cooking basket, spray all over the pieces with oil and cook for approximately 5-10 minutes.
You then need to reduce the temperature to 190°C and cook for a further 15-20 minutes for thighs and 5-10 minutes for legs.
You will now have your yummy crispy fried chicken ready to be consumed. Enjoy!
Below is a video demonstration of a variation of this recipe.
Is an air fryer worth buying? That is the question that is on the minds of most people as the air fryer revolution continues.
As the time passes values constantly change. Even though kitchen may be the first thing where traditions are kept, cooks still need new variations, to make food fit in modern standards.
When new technologies are advertised as substitutes of older ones, we wonder if it is worth to invest in new things when you already have old and trustworthy ones.
Air fryers have got very popular over the few years. You can find them in most of the passionate cooks’ kitchen. But air fryers like all cooking applicances have their own advantages and disadvantages.
If you are willing to buy one, first ask yourself, is it worth of spending money? I will try to show you all the aspects which should be considered while making a decision.
First of all, let’s make clear what air fryer really is and what it can do for us. An air fryer is basically a compact convection oven that cooks food rapidly using super heated air.
A fan within the appliance circulates the air for even and efficient cooking. This leaves food crispy on the outside while moist on the inside. The result is similar to deep frying but without the excess oil.
Advantages of air fryers:
First of all, modern lifestyle is not healthy in general. People like junk food and oily stuff, they like roasted chicken and salty, oily French fries. Air fryers can offer a healthier version for almost all kinds of food, including vegetables.
Even though, blogger Meghan Splawn writes: “While I found I could air fry most vegetables (think: potatoes for fries) with less oil than I needed for deep frying, I still needed about the same amount of oil I’d use for oven-roasting in order to really make them taste comparable.”
Yes, maybe nobody really wants air-fried, healthy fries. What about meat? Air-fryer is actually really
good at deep roasting. So, if you love big dinners and huge chickens on the menu, then you should definitely think about getting the alternative of an oven.
Air fryer is not just good for frying, it also offers a greater range of functions. You can heat up leftovers or cook frozen convenience food with it.
They even bake! You can enjoy muffins or biscuits which were made in air fryer.
Everything is done in minutes. Quick meal is something we all need after a tiring day. We just want to have something tasty, but usually tasty needs a long time. Air fryers offer us fast, healthy and really tasty food.
“The convection technology utilized by air fryers –the circulation of superheated air – increases the rate at which heat from the fryer is transferred into your food,” we read at aircookers.com.
Apparently the air fryer can cook all meals by 50 percent faster than the oven.
Also, air fryers are quite easy to use. If you are not a chef and mess things up in the kitchen, you can just trust your air fryer. Put the timer and temperature on and then continue doing your job. When the cooking is done an air fryer will just let you know.
Air fryer can be good if you are trying to help the environment by your green lifestyle. Air fryers are energy efficient. They use much less electricity than the ovens do.
They also don’t heat up the kitchen as ovens do and cooking in summer is way more comfortable than it has ever been!
Disadvantages of air fryers:
Okay, we’ve talked enough about how air fryers can make our lives easier, but there is one thing we have to consider while making a decision.
Maybe you are going to feel a slight difference in taste. It is not a surprise that something fried in oil will taste way more fatty than something made in air fryer.
Actually, this is a good side of air fryers. We just have to adjust to the difference in taste, in order to feel healthy. After all, air fryers still make delicious and fast meals for us.
The biggest concern is financial issues. An air fryer costs about three times more than deep fryers. You can find hundreds of brands that sell this alternative “oven” from $70 to more than $300.
So, is it worth buying a new fryer when we already have one? In my opinion, yes, it is worth spending $70 or perhaps even $150 dollars on something that will help you and your family to choose healthier way of living.
We invest our money at first, but then we cut down on oil, money saved by oil can be much at the end of the month.
To conclude, you have to first try before making a decision. Maybe you just love oil so much that you can never say no to the oven. However, after all, air fryers are compact and comfortable. Using them will only make lives and dinners better.

In this post we will learn how to air fry frozen corn dogs. Considering the few minutes it takes to airfry them I would imagine that it would be better to do it at home than getting it at a fast food restaurant.
As a busy parent It should be easier to air fry frozen corn dogs at home for your children as it only takes about 7 minutes of my time. This is especially true when you get your kid from school and they are looking for a quick snack before they for after school swimming lessons etc.
One of the main advantages of air frying your food is that it takes less oil and therefore provides us with more healthy meals for the family and children. You also have the privilege of using a timer that stops the cooking once the set time is finished.
Ingredients:
•Frozen corn dogs
Method
•Put the corn dogs in an air fryer basket
•Set the fryer at 390 degrees
•Cook for seven minutes
Reasons for learning how to cook frozen corn dogs in an air fryer
Although corn dogs can be prepared using an oven or microwave, you must take into consideration the availability of time and intended texture. When using an oven, it takes between 10 to 15 minutes to preheat the oven and another 15 minutes to bake the corn dogs.
It takes a few minutes while using a microwave. However, the corn dog will shrink inside a battered elastic shell taking out the fun while eating.
Deep fryer is another option when preparing corn dogs. The deep-fried corn will taste fantastic, but it not recommended for those who are trying to limit fat and calorie count.
Apart from adding fat and calories, a deep fryer is costly when measuring the oil and heating the fryer before starting to cook.
When using an air fryer, it is not a must that you preheat the fryer. It also takes approximately seven minutes to have a tasty corn dog, cooked evenly with a crispy texture.
Besides, it is not necessary to use cooking oil while using an air fryer. Therefore, there is no need to add harmful fats and calories.
The outcome is a fast, yummy meal loved by the children.
The meal is best served with ketchup and mustard. You can also pair the meal with a healthy yogurt to make sure that the children get their nutrients.
What Are the advantages and disadvantages of an Air Fryer?
Have you heard the buzz about air frying, and wonder if these appliances are worth the expense? Everywhere you turn you see information about the health benefits, their efficiency and ease of use.
But is this appliance right for your family?
It can be hard to sort through the excitement on the internet to find out the real benefits and downsides to having an air fryer! I am going to walk you through four advantages and disadvantages of Air Frying.
What is Air Frying?
First, a quick explanation of what air frying is and isn’t. They don’t actually fry food at all. They are more like a self-contained convection oven than a deep fat fryer.
Most units have one or more heating elements, along with a fan or two to circulate the hot air. These appliances quickly heat and circulate the hot air around and through the food in the tray.
This cooking method takes advantage of the heat and the drying effect of the air to cook foods quickly, leaving them crisp and browned on the outside but still moist inside. While the results can be similar to using a deep fryer, they are not identical.
Just in case you have not seen an air fryer in action, here is a video showing how an air fryer works.
Advantages of an Air Fryer
1. Healthier Meals
You do not need to use much (or any) oil in these appliances to get your food crispy and browned! Most users just spritz a little oil on the item and then advantages ceed to the cooking cycle.
The hot air takes advantage of the little bit of oil, and any excess oil just drains away from the food. This makes these devices ideal for making fresh and frozen fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings and nuggets.
2. Quicker, More Efficient Cooking
Air fryers take just minutes to preheat, and most of the heat stays inside the appliance. Foods cook faster than in an oven or on a stove top because this heat is not lost to the surrounding air. Even frozen foods are quickly cooked because the effect of the heat is intensified by the circulating air.
These units are also more energy efficient than an oven. Using a fryer will not heat up your house in the summer, and the cost of the electricity used is just pennies. Since the cooking cycle is also shorter, you can see that using a fryer makes most cooking faster and more efficient than traditional appliances!
3. Versatility
You can use them to air fry, stir fry, reheat, bake, broil, roast, grill, steam and even rotisserie in some models. Besides the fries and nuggets, you can make hot dogs and sausages, steak, chicken breasts or thighs, grilled sandwiches, stir-fried meats and veggies, roasted or steamed veggies, all kinds of fish and shrimp dishes, even cakes and desserts.
If your unit is large enough, you can even bake a whole chicken or small turkey, or do a beef or pork roast. They really are more than just a fryer!
4. Space-Saving
Most units are about the size of a coffee maker. Some models are small and super-compact, making them perfect for small kitchens, kitchenettes, dorm rooms or RVs. An air fryer can replace an oven in a situation that lacks one, and can be more useful than a toaster oven or steamer.
If you use it frequently you will likely be happy to give it a home on your kitchen counter!
Disadvantages of an Air Fryer
1. Quality Issues
Air fryers are mostly made from plastic and inexpensive metal parts. They may or may not bear up after months or years of use. The heating elements, controls and fans tend to go out eventually, and once they do your unit is useless.
The metal cooking baskets and pans do not tend to last very long and often need to be replaced. Print on the dials or control panels can wear off.
Even expensive units can have these issues, and some brands seem to have a lot of reported advantages blems. These are not sturdy, long-lasting kitchen appliances overall.
You can avoid some of these advantages blems by buying a fryer from a well established company. Phillips is the top manufacturer of air fryers, and is known for their high quality, long warranties and great customer service.
There are other reliable brands like Cozyna and Secura that make less expensive but quality units. Every brand has its issues, so you should consider purchasing an extended warranty for extra advantages tection.
2. Takes Up Space
Ok, I had “Space Saver” listed as a advantages …how can it be a con as well? Easy! They do take up space, either on your counter or stored away in a cabinet. If you use it frequently this might not be a advantages blem…but if you only drag it out to make the occasional batch of wings then the loss of space might not make it worth it to you.
It really depends on how and if you use it. Some units are actually fairly heavy as well, and might not be very easy to move around. They have the potential to be just another appliance you use a few times and then sell at a yard sale.
3. Not Ideal for Large Families
You will see some fryers advertised for “large families” but what does that actually mean? Most air fryers are best suited to making food for 1-4 people (depending on the capacity).
There are very few that can handle making food for more than 4, and they often still require cooking in batches. For large families, a true convection air frying oven would advantages bably be a better choice.
A medium sized fryer with a capacity of 3.5 quarts can usually handle a main dish for two, or a main and side dish for one. A large unit with a capacity of 5.8 quarts can handle a main dish like a whole chicken…which theoretically means enough to serve 4 people, as long as you cook the rest of the food in another appliance.
So these are really ideal for smaller families or single users, or for a dorm or office snack maker.
4. Learning Curve
They ARE easy to use, but there is still a learning curve. Each unit has its own peculiarities that you will have to figure out. They come with cooking guides and recipes, but those are more recommendations rather than firm instructions.
It may take a few trials before you get the results that you want. Luckily the internet is filled with users who have shared their experiences, so finding tips is pretty easy.
